Who Is Joanne?
There was a time in my life when I was always chasing the next big goal—driven, busy, and rarely present. I had what many would call a good life, but I didn’t realize how much I was taking for granted. I didn’t question the foundation I stood on: my health and time. I assumed there would always be more days, more chances, more time. Now I take much more notice and appreciate the simple things—like birds chirping, clear blue sky and the freedom and ability to get out of bed every morning!
I am now a mother. My most cherished moments are the ones where I’m coloring with my daughter, telling her stories, snuggling and dancing with her. These are the moments I strive to create and soak in. I am a mix of Taiwanese, Australian and American cultures. I love connecting with people and have always been curios about cultures, stories, struggles and turning points. I believe there is power in storytelling, in being seen and heard. I have come to understand that resilience and joy come in many forms—and I am passionate about helping others find theirs.
My Journey
I began my career as a pharmacist in Australia and later worked in Drug Safety and Labeling research for a biotech company in California. Ten years ago, in my mid-30s, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. I will never forget the radiologist calling me with my biopsy results that it was malignant cancer and that she would refer me to an “oncologist” – a word I never thought I would hear in my 30s. I had no family history, no symptoms, I was young and felt healthy – I just could not believe it. I cried, non-stop, everyday for a long time. My life flipped overnight. What followed were consultations with oncologists, geneticists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, and sometimes second opinions. Then 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 surgeries and 36 rounds of radiation. All my hair fell out, parts of my body disfigured, I was very sick from chemotherapy and a lot of pain from surgeries.
I believe my illness was the result of bad luck and years of neglecting my own well-being while chasing accomplishments. I never listened or paid attention to my body – I was young and thought I was invincible. I didn’t prioritize rest or nourishment, and rarely paused. While I am forever grateful for my medical team and treatments that saved me, I felt shocked, confused, lost and scared. I had no choice but to take it one day at a time.
I continued to feel confused and grief after treatment was over. People told me “you got this” and “be positive” but I didn’t know how. At Mass General Hospital and Cedars-Sinai where I was treated, I sought survivorship and lifestyle programs from leading experts, other patients, survivors and thrivers. I began to realize that life is fleeting and every moment is a gift. In small steps, I started to put myself back together.
I continued to pursue health and wellness programs for my own development, which deepened my understanding of the dimensions of wellness and the transformative power of our intentions. Coaching became an extension of my learning, blending the science of healing, the art of listening and a deep belief that the power to transform is within each of us. It has become my passion to have these conversations earlier, so that I can also empower people to begin living wholeheartedly before illness or crisis becomes the catalyst. We cannot control what life throws at us but we can choose to take intentional and meaningful steps — to give ourselves the best shot at living well.

What is coaching and what will I expect on this journey?
Coaching is a collaborative, future-focused process using evidence-based approach to help you identify struggles, clarify your desires and together build meaningful, sustainable change. I do not diagnose or provide cookie-cutter solutions. Instead, I explore your strengths, motivations and values to create forward momentum.
You will find a safe, supportive space where your story is truly heard. I take time to understand your challenges, hopes and desires so we can shape a path that feels authentic and empowering.
You can expect vision work, goal setting, skill building, and regular check-ins to track progress. Between sessions, you will take action, experiment, and grow with guidance and support along the way.
What are the benefits of coaching?
Coaching bridges the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. I offer a personalized, supportive space to clarify your goals, overcome obstacles and create lasting change. You will gain: personalized guidance, accountability, clarity & focus, emotional support and sustainable growth.

How does reflecting on purpose, goals & vision support healing?
When life is thrown off course, we often lose a sense of identity, direction, and control. I don’t see goals and vision work as rigid checklists. I think of them as quiet reminders of what matters most to you, and small ways to stay connected to your inner self, even when everything around you is changing.
Together, we can explore what truly matters to you in this moment and find ways to gently refocus your energy. Whether it’s prioritizing self-care, setting small intentions, or envisioning a future that feels empowering and authentic, I will support you in creating a path that feels aligned with your values and desires.
How long does coaching take?
Every wellness journey is personal. Meaningful change typically takes at least three months, meeting weekly to build real momentum. Some see significant progress in a few sessions, others choose longer for deeper transformation.
Coaching continues as long as it’s valuable to you—and ends when you feel confident in your tools, habits, and mindset to move forward on your own.
Do you offer sliding scale or free sessions?
Yes. As part of my commitment to making support more accessible, I offer a limited number of free sessions for individuals in active cancer treatment, as well as sliding scale pricing for those experiencing financial hardship. If this applies to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d be honored to support you.

Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use our services. By using our services, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter these Terms.
Coaching Sessions
Coaching sessions are scheduled by mutual agreement. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. Refunds or rescheduling may be offered on a case-by-case situation.
Payment Terms
Payment is required in advance for all coaching sessions. Fees are outlined on our website or as agreed upon during the booking process. We reserve the right to change our fees with prior notice.
Personal Responsibility
You are responsible for your own physical, mental, and emotional well-being. While we provide guidance and support, any actions or decisions you make as a result of our coaching are solely your responsibility.
Code of Conduct
You agree to engage respectfully with your coach and other clients (in group sessions). Any abusive, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior may result in termination of services without refund.
Termination
We reserve the right to refuse or terminate services at our discretion, including in cases of misconduct or non-compliance with these Terms.
